for TTBB Chorus, Piano, and Cello performed by the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Singing Statesmen, Elizabeth Joosten - Conductor Sam Clemmons, piano Jordyn Marcou, cello Commissioned for the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire Singing Statesmen, under the direction of Elizabeth Joosten, I really wanted to dig deep into the text of Psalm 46, which has been a favorite of mine for years. While the English translation often gets me through personal tough times, the Latin translation, albeit very word, provided an incredible rhythmic yet beautiful drive each time I would read through it. Setting it for a TTBB chorus with piano and cello, I chose the five of twelve verses that sum up the psalm as a meditation on turmoil as well as stillness.
